Morag McDowell was born and brought up in Glasgow, went to university there then travelled and lived in Europe for some years. Her first short story was joint winner of the Macallan competition in 1992. After a few years of panic, vegetation and motherhood, she finally wrote her second story and since then has had work published in various anthologies and magazines, including Chapman, New Writing Scotland and the Asham Award winners anthology (2003). Her stories can also be found on Laura Hird’s website. She lives with her family in Renfrewshire.
