Senko Karuza was born in 1957 in Split and spent his childhood on the island of Vis. He was educated in Vis, Split and Zagreb, where he studied philosophy at Zagreb University. His writing has been published in many newspapers and magazines, and also included in various anthologies and reviews. Karuza is the founder of the informal Multimedia Mobile Centre for Research of Alternative Ways of Survival on Small and Distant Islands. His publications include: Busbuskalai (1997), Ima li zivota prije smrti (2005), Tri krokodila (with Branko Cegec and Miroslav Micanovic), and Vodic po otoku (2005). In 2007 the Croatian publisher Profil International published his collected stories.
