Martin H. Bott was born in Edinburgh in 1969. After studying German at Glasgow and London, he moved to Cadiz. He currently lives in Zurich, where he teaches, translates and occasionally contributes to British newspapers. His story ‘Landing in the North’ was a runner-up for Scotland’s major short story prize, the Scotsman/Orange Award (2004) and was published in the related anthology North, edited by Jackie Kay. Other published stories include ‘Thank You’, finalist in the 2006 Fish International Short Story Competition, and ‘Luz’, finalist in the 2006 Fish-Knife Award, which are included in the Fish Anthologies for 2006 and 2007. He has translated several German books into English for UK publishers.
