Maureen Myant lives in Glasgow where she works as an educational psychologist and studies for a PhD in creative writing. Last year she was awarded a New Writer’s Bursary by the Scottish Arts Council and took unpaid leave to work on a novel which she has just finished. She is currently writing a novel about Lidice, the Czech village destroyed by the Nazis in 1942. A Parting Gift is from a series of linked short stories set in the USSR; the title story, Tea in Tashkent was published in an anthology last year. She is married with three grown-up children.
